My 5 Bucks a Day Method has helped thousands of people over the course of the past decade or so. Here’s a shortened version that I hope will help you.
There’s a huge problem in the Internet marketing industry. People want huge riches and they want them right away. It’s no fault of their own. There’s no shortage of sales pages that promise this every single day. The truth is that Internet marketing is both harder than you think it is and easier than you think it is.
You can earn a substantial amount of money in Internet marketing. But, you aren’t going to earn untold riches right away. You aren’t going to earn a full time passive income right away. You can very quickly earn a nice income doing one-off services or selling things you own or assets you have. But, so many people have a dream of passive income or of earning any income at all… no matter how small it might be.
That’s why I wrote 5 Bucks a Day all those years ago (in 2006). I saw that people in this niche were trying to do too much, all at once. They were discouraged. Once they got past the shiny sales letters, they quickly found that it takes work to succeed online– especially when it comes to passive income.
5 Bucks a Day encouraged people to take a step back. If I could sum up the point of that product in a single thought, it would be:
“How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”
5 Bucks a Day gave people a method of breaking down passive income opportunities into manageable, bite-sized chunks. The idea wasn’t to earn thousands of dollars passively right away. The idea was to take one project that could potentially earn you $5 a day and follow it through to completion. That’s $150 a month.
The next week, do another project that could potentially earn you $5 a day, passively. That’s $300 a month, total. all passive. $5 a day suddenly doesn’t seem so low.
The week after that, do another $5 project. Now you have $450 a month, passively. It all builds up from there.
It’s not always that simple, of course, but it usually is. Sometimes the money takes a while to build up, and it certainly doesn’t come immediately, but it eventually does come. Throw enough spaghetti against the wall and something’s going to stick.
That method was written with the idea that many people don’t have full time hours to work on passive income projects for Internet marketing. Would you like a passive $150 a month? Follow through with this and you just might.
Passive Income Projects You Can Complete
There are so many passive income projects you can focus on for a project designed to generate $5 a day in income for you. The chances are good that you have an abundance of business models on your hard drive you can follow.
Here are some ideas you can run with (there are many, many more inside the full book):
- Writing a short non-fiction Kindle book
- Writing a short fiction Kindle book
- Writing a short product
- Writing an autoresponder series and setting up a squeeze page
- Creating a mini niche affiliate website
I won’t cover each of these models in incredible depth, but you can use these ideas as a seed for what you can do.
Writing a Short Non-Fiction Kindle Book
Kindle is an incredible opportunity. There are so many topics that sell well on Kindle that there’s a big chance you can easily create a product on one of them. You have a lot of experience in a variety of areas and people can benefit from your experience. Amazon offers a ready-made audience that is ready and waiting for your work.
There can be a lot that goes into earning on Kindle, of course. Pay attention to your keywords and what’s popular and selling well. Tap into existing traffic sources if you can. Consider releasing a series of books over time.
You can write a non-fiction Kindle book for your project. Format it (Kinstant Formatter is great for fast formatting) and publish it. You can promote it little by little over time.
Writing a Short Fiction Kindle Book
Fiction is a hot seller on Kindle, of course. Many people find fiction to be a lot more fun to write than non-fiction, so definitely choose this if it’s your thing. Series of books and serials do quite well on Kindle. So, write a short fiction piece with that in mind. Make use of cliffhangers and think of releasing “episodes” of your work over time.
This project can be the start of something absolutely wonderful. The more you have up on Kindle, the higher the chance you have of being discovered. Funnel everything you write together so people buy more than one thing. You can eventually create bundles and run full promotional campaigns. For today, just focus on this one short fiction book that can eventually earn you $5 per day, passively over time.
Writing a Short Product
You know by now that I’m a huge fan of product creation. Why not make it your project to focus on writing a short product that will not only earn for you on launch, but will also earn at least $5 a day for you, passively over time? Follow the one-problem product model if you choose to use this as your project idea.
Writing an Autoresponder Series and Setting Up a Squeeze Page
When all else fails, turn to list building. List building is absolutely the most important thing you can do for your business. If Facebook goes down, your list is still there. If Google goes down, your list is still there. No matter what happens, your list is there. And so are the relationships you have with your list or will build with your list when you have one.
Few of us take as much time as we should to build our lists as we should, of course. Take this project to set up a squeeze page and short autoresponder series you can drive traffic to. This can become a great passive earner for you– possibly earning much more than just $5 a day. List building is nothing short of magical.
Creating a Mini Niche Affiliate Website
Many people love to create mini niche websites as their 5 Buck a Day project. There’s something alluring about recommending something and earning a commission for it without having to deal with customer service or product creation or anything like that.
You can create an affiliate website dedicated to promoting a ClickBank product, physical products on Amazon, or whatever you like.
These can be as simple as setting up a Blogger or WordPress blog and writing pre-selling articles that get people really excited about the product. I recommend setting up a self hosted WordPress affiliate blog, though, so you have more control.
As you’re writing your affiliate articles, just remember that the main thing with affiliate marketing is making a connection with your readers. They don’t want to feel that you’re just trying to make a buck off of them or they will just click away. Put your personality into it and focus on visualizing an example of the audience you’re writing to so you put emotion into it as well. Try to set your affiliate website apart from others out there.
Ideally, your website will naturally catch on in the search engines. You can also choose to promote it via social media over time. You can create a Twitter account and Facebook page. In many niches, Pinterest is a great vehicle for promotion. See what works for you.
Making the Method Work for You
Figure out what you’re going to do before you get started. Create a checklist of things you need to do when it comes time to complete it. It can be a lot of fun to think about the income you can rack up when you focus on earning just $5 per day.
Watching Your Project Over Time
Some of these projects will take off on their own. You won’t have to do very much but watch. Others will need a bit more nurturing over time. The truth is that absolutely nothing is completely, totally, and fully passive. Things change and you need to keep your eye on what works now.
The cool thing is that you can just check in here and there, do a bit of promotion, and give these projects a small push every once in a while and they can do very well for you. That’s the great thing about passive income.
I know it can be hard to focus on a method that gives so much weight to “slow and steady wins the race.” I’m fully aware that the $500 RIGHT NOW method sounds more appealing to many people. But, what’s really better?
$5 a day at 365 days a year is $1,825… every year.
$500 today is $500 today and nothing more.
Again, what’s better?
There’s something to be said for completing multiple projects over the course of a month to get the best of both worlds.
Tweaking Your Project Over Time
What happens if your affiliate site is nowhere to be found on the search engines? What if it’s not converting? What if no one is signing up for your list? What if no one is buying your Kindle book?
Don’t panic.
You’ve done the work. Usually, it just takes some simple tweaks or a bit more elbow grease to get things going. Sometimes, it’s a matter of completing additional 5 Buck a Day strategies to find a winner.
When you get really good, you can create 10 or so mini niche affiliate sites in a day. Some of those will be duds but some will earn more than $5 a day. The effort evens out. It’s all worth it.
I teach in my 5 Bucks a Day book “failure is your friend”. That means, among other things, that not every project will succeed. But at the same time, some will be much more successful than you imagine, so it evens out… usually in your favor. It does take time to get there, though, so don’t worry about it if your first project or two or three doesn’t set the world on fire immediately.
Completing More Projects and Finding the 5 Bucks a Day Strategy to Earn More Income
I think it’s fun to take a break from your typical activities to work on these 5 Buck a Day projects sometimes to earn great income. It’s a way to test things out, be creative, and expand your knowledge… not to mention your bank account.
I urge you to do “5BAD” days every once in a while. Or, follow the original strategy and do a new one each week. Do whatever fits your schedule and motivates you the most. You can earn a great income now and over time.
