Creating systems for your business is a very smart thing to do. The thing is, it actually can be a lot of fun partially because it will be a huge relief for you. It’s especially fun when you realize how much it’s going to help you profit since it will bring a lot of organization to your life. Working less and seeing more money in the bank account is certainly my idea of fun.
This doesn’t have to be daunting and it doesn’t have to be hard. It’s time to get motivated and really stick with this way of doing things. Don’t let this be just another article you read about bettering your business. Don’t just dream about working less and profiting more.
If you want to achieve this, and I know you do, then you absolutely can. There’s nothing standing in your way but your own mindset and your own actions.
No matter what you want to achieve or what you want to earn, you can do it.
Systematizing and organizing your business is definitely the right path for you.
You’re going to simplify and systematize your most important business activities You’re also hopefully going to make sure that every action you take in your business matters. There’s no sense in wasting time on unprofitable activities—that ends today.
Right now, things are so foggy in your business that you don’t really know what to work on. Are you on the right path? Who knows. Can you double or triple the number of things you get done in your business? Sure you can… organize yourself and figure out what’s going to be most profitable for you. Set solid goals and follow through with the actions that will help you achieve those goals.
Figure out what the most important activities in your business are. Then, make make it so simple for yourself to follow through with those activities that you’ll wonder what in the world you were doing with your time before this.
Creating systems in the way that I’m going to show you truly allows you to work without thinking while you work. Thinking about the little things slows you down like crazy. Again, you shouldn’t have to think about the next step. It should be a matter of looking down and checking something off a list. Even world-renowned surgeons and nurses with decades of experience are relying on similar systems and checklists to double-check their work. It makes sense for a dedicated business owner like yourself to do something similar.
This will help you become more profitable because you’ll know that everything you do means something. You won’t start and stop projects anymore. You’ll follow things through, launch things, and see the success you know you deserve.
Working more efficiently like this gives you more time left over to do the things you like to do. If you’re someone who’s working day and night without stopping lately, this is for you. How many of your “work hours” are actually productive?
This question is nothing against you… But if you’re like most people, then probably most of your work hours are completely unproductive. You’re working all those hours and you don’t have to.
It’s hard to be productive these days, even if you do work all day. You have to deal with distractions from your smartphone, distractions from your email, distractions from social media, distractions from your household, and so much more. Not to mention the ever-interesting 24-hour news cycle. It’s no wonder you’re working until the wee hours of the morning to try to get anything done. And then you have the internal distractions from your self-doubt and poor mindset.
It’s hard to stay on task with all of these internal and external distractions. How long does it take you to get back on task once you’re interrupted? It probably takes you 20 minutes, or maybe even more, whether you realize it or not.
Or, maybe you can’t seem to be productive at all because there’s so much else going on and your to-do list is so fuzzy. What are you supposed to be working on again?
This is a big problem and it’s costing you a lot of money. It’s time to stop the bleeding. When you have systems, you can easily get back to work. When you have systems, you won’t find yourself getting so easily distracted. Systems help you break tasks down. Systems make success achievable for all. They make it so you can follow things through to completion, no matter what. It will be such a huge relief for you.
When you actually get things done, you’ll have time left over to do the things you like to do. You won’t be working day and night. In fact, I encourage you to set specific work hours and stick to those work hours. You need time off because that will make you happier and more productive overall. No one can work all the time.
You’re working so hard right now that you need a break. It’s hard to take a break, though, when you have such big goals and you feel so overwhelmed with your business. You feel guilty if you even take a night off. You feel like the only way you can make it is by working 12 to 14 hours a day. That’s not the case at all. That’s not healthy at all. Systems are going to help you get rid of this problem.
When you have systems and checklists, you’ll always know what’s coming next. Nothing will be left to chance. When you leave things to chance or whim in your business, you’re setting yourself up for failure. The human brain can only handle so much and you’re on overload.
I want to make it clear that this doesn’t mean your business will be totally inflexible. There will still be plenty of room for flexibility. In fact, you’ll be able to be more creative and innovative because the little tasks, the step-by-step things that stay the same most of the time, won’t get in your way. You’ll know what’s coming next, which invites brainpower and room for creativity.
Getting work done in this way will help you become more confident, too.
Mindset is so important for business success. If you have a failure and scarcity mindset, it’s going to be hard for you to get anything done because it’s so intimidating.
But, as you start to get more done, it will be easier for you to get even more done. You’ll have a mindset of productivity and success. You’ll be confident that you can tackle anything that comes your way.
Here’s How to Create Systems/Checklists For Your Most Important Tasks
If you’re anything like me, then you love to have examples before you try something new.
Now, I have no idea what line of business you’re in or what your needs are. With that in mind, I’ve worked with hundreds (probably thousands, by now) of business owners over the years.
So, here’s a sample template you can use to create your own step-by-step sheet for any task in your business.
I highly recommend you type these sheets up specifically for all of the most important tasks in your business. You can keep them in a binder so they’re easily accessible while you work.
Really, though, the most important thing is that you choose something that works well for you.

The final project will look like:

As you can see, this doesn’t have to be very complicated at all. In fact, it can be quite simple. Simple works best, don’t you think?
So, go through your common tasks and create step-by-steps like this.
You can also choose to create checklists to help guide you through so you’re sure you have all of your bases covered.
