Amazon FBA: Private Labeling (part 3)

What to Check Before You Invest

Before you invest in a product to private label, you have to make sure that the company is legitimate. It can be helpful if they have been verified by a third-party, which is what some sourcing guides offer.

You want to make sure the product you’re getting is of top quality and that your customers will be glad to receive it. Reviews, and your reputation, really do matter.

Some manufacturers take great pictures and do a nice job of talking things up, but the actual product leaves a lot to be desired. Since you are private labeling, you are putting your name and reputation on the line. Be sure you always order a sample of the product so you know you are getting something legitimate. It’s definitely wise to pay the cost and shipping charges to purchase a sample before you commit to buying hundreds or thousands of them.

What to Sell

When searching for something to have manufactured for you to sell on Amazon, the criteria will be slightly different than it would be if you were searching for something to profit with by retail arbitrage.

Private labeling is when you have actual manufacturers make products for you so you can sell them under your own label.

I wrote about retail arbitrage in earlier episodes of The IM Inside Track.

This time, I’m focusing on private labeling.

Copywriting as a Service

One of the best, fastest, and often easiest ways to earn money is by offering an in-demand service. If you can find something others are willing to pay you for, that they can’t necessarily do themselves, you can earn handsomely.

One of the best groups to target as a service provider is business owners. The business-to-business market is thriving and it most likely always will be.

Of course, some of the services you might provide seem a bit oversaturated. If you’re a writer, there’s plenty of business out there for you, but how do you really differentiate yourself? There are plenty of writers out there who are offering their services at bottom of the barrel prices.

That’s not exactly exciting if you’re a writer or you’re keen on offering writing services but you’re not sure how you’ll set yourself apart. I will say– there are plenty of ways you can set yourself apart as a freelance writer.
