Turn Notifications Off

This might seem like a little thing, but it’s actually a big thing. How many notifications go off on you every day? You have your Facebook notifications on, and your Skype notifications, and your email popping up on your computer, your phone messages and calls and text messages signaling you at all times, and more.

With all of these blings and pings, how are you supposed to get anything done? The trouble is that it’s easy to feel like you have to be constantly accessible these days. I assure you, you do not. There is a time to check your messages, emails, and notifications. That time is not during your most valuable work hours.

Feed Your Body Well

It’s so easy to get so caught up in your work that you either forget to eat right or you end up eating fast food and other bad food all the time. Convenience food is just that… it’s convenient, but generally terrible for you. The fact is that it can make you sluggish. It sops up your energy and your motivation. It puts you in ill health so you’re ill prepared to work.

If you want to be in optimal health with more energy, then you need to feed your body well. That means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and keeping yourself hydrated with plenty of water. It means paying attention to what you put in your body. In general, whole, natural foods are best. Avoid the convenience of processed foods whenever you can.

Examine How You Work Now, Then Work Smarter

You should frequently take time to examine how you work and find ways to work smarter. You should never feel like you’re finished improving your time management.

Don’t get complacent. There’s always room for improvement.

You might find that you implement these time management tricks only to find that you fall back into old patterns just a short time from now. That can be discouraging. But, that’s what happens when you work unchecked.

Find Your Reason Why

Why do you want to be more productive and better at managing your time? If you aren’t sure of the answer, then you need to become sure of the answer.

Maybe you just think that it’s the right thing to do to read a book about time management. Maybe you were forced to read a book about time management by your boss or partner. You need to want this for yourself. If you don’t truly want to improve, then you won’t improve.

You have some big goals in your life. You have values and an idea of how you want your life to be. What is your Reason Why you want to do well in your career or business?

Let’s continue on with more time management tricks.

Get Rid of the Time Wasters

You can’t hope to be highly efficient if you’re filling your days with time wasting activities. You need to really pay attention to which tasks are important and beneficial and which tasks are wastes of time.

Don’t do things just because they’ve always been done. Don’t do things just because you think you have to. Really evaluate everything on your to-do list and whether or not they are important. Can you reasonably eliminate a task?

If it’s a task that’s important, but that you’re not particularly competent in or don’t feel like doing, remember that you can always outsource or delegate it.
