Meeting and Exceeding Your Self Publishing Goals

You’ve probably noticed something if you’ve read other books of mine – I am a huge, huge proponent of goal setting. I would feel like I was doing you a disservice if I didn’t talk about goal setting when it comes to self publishing. That’s because those who set goals are bound to be much more successful than those that don’t.

You need a target to shoot for with everything you do. You need to know what you’re aiming for, very specifically. Knowing that you want to become “successful by publishing on Kindle” is not nearly enough. You need to define how much you would like to earn, and when. Why do you need or want to earn money by publishing on Kindle? Define that for yourself and use it to help you formulate your goals.

You also need to set goals for yourself when it comes to your work. How many books would you like to have published by the end of this year? How many books would you like to have published by the end of this month? Break it down very specifically like that.

When you set very specific goals, it gives you a roadmap to follow. You’ll be able to break down what you need to do and when you need to do it in order to achieve your goals. You’ll also be a whole lot more motivated because you’ll have those other goals to strive for – you’ll know that if you work hard and release X number of books over this year, then you’ll probably earn at least X number of dollars, as long as you play your cards right.

You DO Have Time to Write Short, Profitable Books in a Week

You may have read this title with some trepidation. Maybe you thought sure, you could write a short book in seven days if you spent every waking hour working on that book. But, who wants to do that? No one—that’s a surefire path to burnout.

Actually, you might be surprised to learn that that’s not what I have in store for you at all. In fact, you can spend just a couple of hours each day working on writing short books and still be very successful. It all depends on how well you organize yourself, how quickly you’re able to write, and how motivated and focused you are.

I don’t want you to spend 16 hours a day writing your book. It really is not that difficult and time intensive. You don’t need to be stressed out about this. Approach your writing in a fun way. Don’t make this a chore. You can even reward yourself along the way. Meet your word count goals for the day and allow yourself to have a bowl of ice cream or something.

Amazing Things to Add to Your Book to Hit it Out of the Park

Find Great Facts and Figures to Include in Your Book

One of the best things you can do to add a lot of quality to your book is to find facts and figures that will really help your readers. You don’t want to make your book dry and boring, of course, but the right facts and figures can really pack a powerful punch. This kind of thing only applies to certain topics or genres, of course.

It can be as easy as searching Google for the statistics you want. You can even search “’your keyword’ statistics’ in Google. Look for the most relevant, scholarly sources in the search results and you’ll probably find some great statistics to include as well.

Where appropriate, depending on your topic, you can also find studies and scholarly research you can include (make sure to always cite your sources in this case).
