First things first… if you’re new here, please check to make sure that you received an email with your login credentials. Some email services such as hotmail, outlook, and others routinely block emails that are autogenerated and sent by scripts such as what sent that email to you.

So if you did not receive your email with login information, and you just joined, you’re currently logged in, but once you log out, you won’t be able to log in again. That can easily be fixed if you go here and read the FAQ about what to do if you didn’t receive your login credentials. Option 1 there is the quickest and easiest solution and won’t require my support or any delay.

Also, you should have been asked to confirm your email address to join the member’s email list. I plan on sending emails each Friday to members with links to new content, as well as informing you of any new features about the site. This particular list will not be used for affiliate marketing, only for IMIT stuff. So if you aren’t signed up for that list, look for the Aweber optin confirmation request and confirm, or use the link on the right hand sidebar here.

Welcome to The IM Inside Track

As I compose this first post, there are tons and tons of thoughts running through my head.

You see, this is a site that I’ve always wanted to find. It’s something I’ve always known that was needed. It’s something that I never in my wildest imagination thought that was meant for me to be the creator.

But here I am, with high hopes, and it’s been a long and twisted path.

You might or might not know my own story, so I’ll just tell you a little bit to set the stage for those who don’t know me, and more will come out later.

My background went from college to the U.S. Army to a job as a programmer, which I absolutely loved. That lasted 6+ years, and for the sake of money, since I was newly married and my wife was newly pregnant, I took a job with a small software company which moved me from Pennsylvania to New Jersey to be their technical support manager.

I loved that job also, but something inside me made me want to do more, earn more, and make a difference for more companies. I guess I was an entrepreneur, so in 1981 I started a little software consulting company, and for 8 years I traveled back and forth across the country teaching other programmers, and sometimes took consulting gigs with area businesses designing their online systems and doing some programming if called upon.

I loved the work. I didn’t particularly love the travel. By 1989 I was burned out, and had some money in savings, so I made my first career change, and opened a retail store selling sports collectibles and later other types of collectibles.

I now appreciate people who run retail businesses, because it was a non-stop grind, and eventually not real profitable, which helped me build up a 6-figure credit card debtload.

In 1998 I found eBay through the help of a friend, and did that while I still had the store. I set up a web site as well, and started following the IM’ers of that time that convinced me that riches awaited.

Hah! If only it were as easy as they made it out to be. But at my age, and with my debt, there was no way I could find a job that would pay me enough to pay down my debt as well as earn enough to live on.

So I tried everything, and from 2002 through 2005 nothing worked. It kept getting worse… and then about that time, there were two armed robberies. My wife had a knife at her throat the first time, and I had a gun at my back for the second one. But it all worked out, and actually might have been what inspired me to work just a wee bit harder to make the Internet marketing thing work.

That was my first why, and we’ll talk about whys later. I wanted to get rid of that albatross of a store so bad I could taste it.

In 2005, in my darkest hours, with debt at over $300,000, and no more available, I sat down and decided to forget most of what I had learned to date, and focus on setting up small websites that were monetized with Adsense and eBay affiliate links. To get traffic quickly, I used Google Adwords pay per click.

It worked, but it wouldn’t work today, so don’t run off trying to do that now.

The fact that it worked then, and the fact that some online friends encouraged me to write about my methods, resulted in my first book, 5 Bucks a Day, and then a free forum, and later a paid membership site (Earn1KaDay), and much more including more books than I can count without seeing them listed.

I consider myself very lucky indeed, not only the success, not only ridding myself of the debt, not only a little bit of fame, I guess, but more than anything the fact that I’ve made quite a few friends online.

I’ve learned a lot. I’ve communicated in various ways with a lot of people who follow me through my membership, that have purchased my books, that have gone to my seminars, and who follow me on Facebook or elsewhere.

The fact that there are people in the world that follow me, and have told me that they appreciate what I teach them, sometimes even saying that I’ve changed their lives, makes me want to go even further in spreading the word about what’s possible if you do things the right way, and that’s what I want to teach in this site.

I’ve heard that Internet marketing isn’t always the most respected profession in the world, and I guess I can understand why. There is sometimes a propensity for marketers to embellish things for the sake of a sale, and I’ve heard many a tale of gullible people being taken for thousands and tens of thousands of dollars because they were promised that they could get rich if they would just follow the marketer.

I guess I was sucked in also back in the old days, but fortunately not for huge amounts of money.

So to make a long story short, I know what it feels like to be starting, or even beyond starting — to be doing what I thought was the right process and getting relatively nowhere.

And I know it isn’t just me with that problem, as I’ve received many emails and read many forum posts over the years that absolutely frustrate me to death, and sometimes break my heart.

If I had a dime for every time someone told me they need to make quick money, and they have no money to invest in coaching or high-ticket courses because they’ve already thrown money away on a coach or mentor or another high-ticket course, I’d be rich.

Well, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but I’ve still heard that a lot.

So here you are, and here I am, and I like to think that what I’m charging you to be here is relatively painless.

I hope I can help you, I really do, and I hope you’re ready.

What I will be doing inside The IM Inside Track is to share with you on a frequent basis some of the tips and tricks and thoughts that I’ve learned over the years since I started doing this.

I’ve done well since 2005. I’ve made friends that have also done well, and I’ve learned from them.

As I write this today, I’ve outlined 14 different major topic areas that I’ll be depositing short articles and blog posts and podcasts about inside your members area, with a dozen or two or three sub-topics for each major topic area.

I’m sure that as the site fills up, those numbers will grow substantially, and I hope you don’t get tired of hearing from me.

If you’re looking for ways to earn more income, we’ll have that.

If you’re looking for advice on how to do certain technical things, we’ll have that.

If you’re looking for marketing advice, we’ll have that.

If you’re looking for butt-kicking now and then about your habits and mindset, we’ll have that too, and I hope you don’t mind.

We’ll have a whole lot more, of course, and today I can’t even imagine what will be here a year from now, and what the price will be then.

But today, you’re here, you’re paying a reasonable monthly fee (right?), not too much to break the bank, but something, so that you appreciate the value (I’ve found that people who get stuff for free don’t have any “skin in the game” and totally ignore what they’re given).

The schedule for posting and delivery of the content here isn’t set in stone yet. I intend to send you something at least a few times a week, maybe slightly more some weeks. I won’t forget about you, and I hope you don’t forget about me. I sincerely want to count you as one of my success stories in the future, and even more so I hope that you come to know, like, and trust me, and that you build your business in a way that your customers and followers will know, like and trust you.

Until next time, have a spectacular day.

  1. Yes Dennis, Thousands of dollars over the last 4yrs. With a lot of highly regarded people. But; always falling short of 100% information. Probably a bit my fault because I was starting from scratch and always thought I needed to learn something else.
Your writing is stimulating, thought process invoking and reeking of honesty integrity and compassion. I so look forward to following some of your suggestions.
Biggest difference Dennis is that you started off with technology on your side. I’m 64yrs, a retired Carpenter, financially devastated by 2 cyclones and 3 floods in The Top End of Australia. I can set out a building site or roof timbers as easily as you would build a website. I hope I can learn the tech side of it from you as imagination and writing I’m ok at.

    Jack Kerr

    • Hi, Jack, you’ve been through a lot. But you’re slightly younger than I am, so you have that on your side. :-)

  2. Hi Dennis.

Interesting to hear you are a programmer.

I can program HTML but, alone, it is not very versatile. Various marketers seem to imply I should use WordPress. I have found WP difficult to learn in any depth but I have been going it alone.

Before the days of graphic programming interfaces, I was a fairly good C++ application programmer. I also programmed in Basic and Cobol(ugh).

I suppose you now get others to build your websites but, in the early days, did you prefer using say WordPress or did you code your websites at a more basic level?

    • Frank, when I started, there was no WordPress, but I use it exclusively now except when I have something like where I’m modifying PLR content and it was distributed with an HTML sales page. The world is now on WordPress, at least our part of the world in IM, so get used to it. It’s not so bad.

  3. Dennis,

I have briefly over viewed the site and I find a couple of areas lacking, any intention of building up these areas:
    Video Marketing
Crowdfunding (all of us get in trouble some times).
    YouTube and Facebook

It appears that these are weak areas in Earn1Kaday and on Product Drop.
I am a life time member of both of those sites.

Like a lot of these folks I have had a few life experiences. I am writing my life history. When it is done I will give it away through this site or Earn1Kaday.I looks like it will be about 3 or 4 volumes of about 200 pages. It is long because I have lived 73 and done a lot of things. I expect internet marketing to keep me busy for the next 20 or so years.

    Thanks,
    Bud
    .

    • Bud, yes, as I have mentioned several times, especially on the sales page, IMIT is a work in progress, it’s growing at the rate of 3 to 5 episodes a week, possibly more especially in the beginning. It’s brand new, and you’ll see that within a relatively short time that each category will have many more episodes. Certainly video marketing, Youtube, Facebook. I hadn’t planned anything on crowdfunding, but certainly will consider that.

  4. Hi Dennis,

Great story and honestly on your spectacular journey,
that anyone online experience can resonate with, as it has become a bear pit of confusion.

I am glad you broke through as a result of your application, consistency and determination.

I firmly believe in what you do and look forward to supporting your site and mission in many way possible.

Thanks for putting this out there and best wishes to your continued success.

    kind regards

    Simon

  5. Dennis –

Interesting site. I found out about it through Sean Mize. I’m *very* interested in his “million person business model.” For that reason, I’m also very interested to see how IMIT unfolds. Oh. I’m interested in the IMIT content as well.

    Rick

    • Yes, Sean was a big inspiration for this site, and at some point in the future I’ll probably do a case study about how everything came together. It’s still too early, but I think it will be helpful to many.

  6. I am one of those senior citizens (74) that is working hard to implement things. About 6 or 7 years ago I was busy learning and had certainly progressed further than now. But life got in the way and I am having to review so much.

I am a retired teacher and LOVE to teach. For that reason I would like to work in IM with beginners but that is down the track.

There is so much technical stuff that has been added to WordPress, can you recommend something that would help with this. I learn by reading but I can tolerate video.

    Carol

    • Hi, Carol. I can empathize with your feeling that WordPress is growing at an overwhelming rate. However, just because there are a bazillion different themes and plugins available doesn’t mean you have to be familiar with any but the basic. Often when I create a blog I just stick with the default theme, at least at first, and a few standard plugins like a spam catcher.

That being said, if there’s a specific question you have about WordPress, I suspect there are several videos on Youtube that will answer that question and give a video tutorial.

  7. I am another of those baby boomers who has found that retirement is not an option. It is not possible to retire at today’s cost of living. So, I started looking for ways to make money online. Like so many others, I spent quite a bit over the last few years trying to find something that would work for me, without success.

There are many programs, trainings, and coaches out there that will teach you how to make money online–for outrageous prices. (Truly, if I had that kind of money to spend, I would not be looking for ways to make money!)

I want to thank you for making the IM Inside Track available at a price that “normal” people can afford. Having read some of your books, and following your newsletter for some time, I know that you are an honest internet marketer and that what you teach is valid information that works. Thank you so much for the opportunity to learn more and to grow a business that makes escape from life in the cubicle possible.

  8. Hi Dennis,

I have had the same sort of start to IM as you did and my debt level whilst it’s not as high as yours was with only a government handout at this moment in time it feels equivalent.

I bought your 5 Bucks A Day and took it on a plane trip with me and lost it, then there was the dying husband, life, moving interstate and a myriad of other things in between and so I haven’t progressed far unfortunately.

I have been going to join your 1KaDay but just couldn’t stretch to it but now I’ve thrown caution to the wind and paid for a whole year so I can learn and implement and get help… I’m doing this on my own…. and maybe just maybe, be like you,pay off the debt and have the freedom of lifestyle to live again and not just exist like I seem to be at the moment

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity and like some others here I’m in my 70’s but don’t plan on becoming “old” for a long while yet as I have so much to do and with my new found wealth I’ll be doing it.

    • I love your attitude, Maureen, and I wish you nothing but the best in everything going forward. If you’d like a digital copy of 5 Bucks a Day, just contact me.

  9. While I have some writing experience and learned a lot when I was a Salvation Army Officer. I’m almost 76 and this year is my start as a published author. I want to help people, give value, make money with my ebooks and paperbacks. Over 26 books about 3 to 4 a month . I have a marketing plan and want to build a income while I can enjoy it.
Thanks to you books and members site I have added even more to my plan . God Bless You
    Glen Goodrum
