Leveraging the Traffic of Other Marketers

You never have to start from scratch when getting traffic, even if you’re completely new to Internet marketing. There are many, many people who’ve come before you. There are marketers out there, in your niche and otherwise, who are getting hundreds of thousands or even millions of visitors every single day. Wouldn’t you like to get a taste of that traffic?

The cool thing is you absolutely can. You can leverage the traffic other marketers are already receiving for your own benefit. Of course, it’s not just about you. There always has to be something in it for the other marketer. What can you do for the most successful, highly trafficked marketers out there? There’s always an answer, and there’s always a way to tap into that constant traffic for your own use.

This is a big part of the reason I suggest you network and build relationships with people in your niche, including the leaders in your niche. You don’t want to consider people competition you’re always working against. The most successful marketers in your niche can be a huge asset to you. Focus on building these relationships so you can easily get your “in” that will help you get more traffic… Instantly.

Word of Mouth Traffic

When you build relationships, you hope people will shout the name of your business from the rooftops. You want them to tell absolutely everyone who is even remotely interested in your niche to visit your blog, follow you on social media, and invest in your products. This happens via word-of-mouth marketing.

You can’t force word-of-mouth marketing, but you certainly can encourage it. The first step in doing this is forming great relationships and getting people really excited about the things you’re doing. People are a lot more likely to check you out if they heard about you from a friend or trusted advisor. You can have all the ads, articles, and other content out on the web you want… but the unfiltered words of other people will always be more effective than all of those things combined.

That’s why, throughout this guide, I have spent a lot of time telling you to build relationships with everything you do in driving traffic and marketing. When you focus on relationships and really helping people, word-of-mouth marketing will sort of fall into place. You’ll have proven yourself as an expert and as someone who delivers on your promises.

Leveraging Your Content in More Than One Way

Very few marketers seem to do this, and that’s a mistake because it can bring you a lot of traffic and a lot of exposure. I’m talking about writing articles that are meant for reprint.

You write articles for yourself and your own purposes all the time. However, your influence only spreads so far – especially when you’re first starting out. Wouldn’t you love it if you could write an article and have dozens of marketers post it with a resource box pointing to your website? It would end up all over the web– in their newsletters, on their blog, off-line, in e-zines, in magazines, and more. This is basically free advertising, branding, and traffic that is mutually beneficial.

Consider writing these articles that are available for reprint, that include an author’s resource box. Anyone is free to use these articles as long as they leave your resource box intact.

Creating Shareable Content

Creating Shareable Content

We’ve talked a little about creating content people will want to share. How do you do that? It’s such an important part of staying fresh and relevant in today’s search engines and on social media. You have to make sure you consistently have great content that people feel intrinsically motivated to share.

The first thing to note is that if you are trying to get a stale dinosaur of a website to rank, you’re going to have a difficult time. If you haven’t added any content to your website for years, it’s time to freshen things up. You should be posting on your website or blog consistently. You shouldn’t just be posting any old content, you should be posting content that’s going to shake things up a bit and help your site get noticed.

We are going to talk a lot about writing great content when we get to the section on blogging. Note that most content-related discussions relate to blogs and static websites. There are some great things you can do to light a fire in your blog content so it spreads like crazy all over the web.

Getting People Into the Habit of Coming Back

I’ve talked about getting people addicted to your content. What does this mean, really? To get a grasp on the concept, consider the blogs, websites, emails, and social media account you check most frequently. Is there a marketer out there you follow everywhere they are online? Do you regularly check to see if a certain marketer or business posted a new video or podcast? Whose opinions do you turn to before you make a decision or buy something new?

Make a list of the reasons why you follow these marketers so closely. You may not have even been aware that you were doing it! There might be something about their personality or style that really draws you to them. There’s something about them, beyond the fact that they are in a niche you’re interested in, that puts them above everyone else in that niche, as far as you’re concerned.

Now consider the people in your niche. What can you do to get them to come back to you time and time again? How can you get them on a regular schedule of visiting your blog, podcasts, and videos? You don’t want to reach them in just one place– you want to reach them wherever they are!
