Brainstorming Book Topics

Choosing a Topic for Your Book

In this episode, I’ll mainly focus on brainstorming a book topic, but it’s most helpful to choose a great, general niche or topic to write about before you start to brainstorm an exact topic.

I feel I should mention niche selection because, while a good niche can mean (but not guarantee) success, a poor niche can mean utter failure. It’s not really something you should just choose off the top of your head.

Just because you like a certain topic doesn’t mean everyone else is interested in buying a book about it. I don’t want you to write your heart out on a topic you’ve brainstormed that will never sell. That’s just not the way to go—unless writing is strictly a hobby for you. And I think you’re reading this book right now because it’s not just a hobby for you.

Again, you have to make sure the topic you choose is selling well on Kindle already. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Follow what’s already working and already selling. If you publish on a hot topic, the chances are good that you’ll probably get some sales.

Start a Membership Site

One of the best income generation methods there is, in my opinion, is to start a membership site or other type of community or program where people pay you monthly for the privilege of accessing your content.

And really, you can start out by offering free access to your content for no charge, to “show ‘em what you got”, and then give reason to upgrade to something where they are happy to pay you regularly, after they get to know, like, and trust you.

In this episode I’m going to give you some ideas to get your thought process and excitement going, and in future episodes I’ll get into more specifics about the different types of membership models that you can choose from.

The 80/20 Principle

Pareto’s Principle

Have you ever wanted to get rid of everything that’s dragging you down in life and business and only focus on the good stuff? It turns out that’s actually something you should be doing. You should be getting rid of what doesn’t work and grabbing hold of what does work in your business.

You can actually work less and earn more money if you cut the fluff. This isn’t a dream world fantasy; it’s just smart business. There’s no reason at all to keep doing something that isn’t working.

Do you have customers that are draining your time? Focus on the ones that don’t. Do you have tasks in your business that don’t earn much for you but are such a drain on your physical and mental energy? It might be that you don’t need to do those tasks at all. It all comes down to the 80/20 principle.

An Overview of Self-Publishing on Kindle

Self Publishing On Amazon Is A Wonderful Opportunity

Whether you’re an entrepreneur or a writer by practice, you’re always looking for ways to grow your brand, impact and help your audience, and make more money. It’s important to you that your audience views you as an expert they can turn to time and time again. Whether you’re new to the business of writing and you’re looking for a great way to break into your niche, or you’re interested in expanding your presence, Amazon Kindle publishing is an extremely smart way to do it.

When you publish books for Kindle, you get access to Amazon’s customers, the power behind their ebook recommendation engine, the esteem that comes from being a published author, and more. Amazon has an extremely popular ebook service that stands far above the rest and it’s just smart business to take advantage of it. Every day, there are people looking for and buying books related to your topic on Kindle – it may as well be your book they’re buying.

I imagine there are two different kinds of people reading this right now. The first type sees Kindle publishing as just another leg to their business. They want more visibility and to catch more customers or clients with a wider net. The other type of person reading this right now is a writer– and plans to create an entire income stream by publishing their words to Kindle.

Affiliate Marketing

affiliate marketing word cloudSo you’re thinking about being an affiliate marketer?

Many Internet marketers, myself included, started out in perhaps the easiest way possible… by becoming an affiliate for one or more merchants that had products that allowed other to promote.

Well, I say easy, but in reality I had to learn a lot of painful and frustrating lessons along the way, many of which I hope to be able to teach you inside IMIT, so that you don’t have so much pain and frustration.

This particular lesson is more geared to those who aren’t already familiar with what affiliate marketing is all about. If you’ve been an IM’er for a while, you’re probably already familiar with what I’m going to say today, but if not, I think you’ll become very excited with what lies in store for you.
