Think about the last time you were really sold on something— the last time something grabbed you and you couldn’t imagine not buying whatever it was. You had to have it, at any cost.

Was it after you’d read a written sales letter? Maybe.

Was it after you met someone in person and heard their sales pitch? Maybe.

Sometimes, an in-person sales pitch can be more effective and sometimes a written sales letter can be more effective.
