Your Daily Social Media Schedule

You know how important it is to have a presence on social media. The trouble is that it can be really overwhelming. It’s easy to fall into a trap of spending all your time on sites like Facebook and Twitter without seeing any benefit from it.

Why is it the case that some people see a ton of benefit from being on social media and other people don’t see any benefit at all?

In my experience, those who see the most benefit from social media have a set schedule they follow for using it. Everything they do on social media has a purpose. They don’t find themselves following links and reading time-wasting post after time-wasting post.

How to Use LinkedIn For Business

LinkedIn is a fantastic social media site. There’s really nothing else out there like it. Sure, you have Facebook, Twitter, and other social platforms. But, LinkedIn was created strictly for networking and getting the word out there about one’s skills on the job and/or one’s business.

That’s a game changer, when you really think about it. People aren’t typically on Facebook to learn about you or your business. People aren’t on Twitter for that reason either.

But, when someone logs into LinkedIn, they’re specifically looking for more information about someone they can hire for a job or for more information about a businessperson or business they’re interested in or want to buy from.

Building Relationships via Social Media

If you’re going to be successful with social marketing, it’s very important to pay attention to the relationships you build and tend to.

There’s nothing worse than the people who come onto Twitter or Facebook or any social site and then continuously plug whatever it is they’re selling. They don’t even bother to add value—it’s plug, after plug, after plug.

There are others who aren’t quite that bad, but just about. They play at talking to people and connecting, but really they see it as something they half-heartedly attempt. They sort of know they have to do it but are so laser focused on getting their promotion in front of people that everyone can see right through them.

The above examples are what not to do. It might be really tempting to do that… but don’t.

How to Run Twitter Chats

Some people I talk to in business are frustrated because they aren’t sure how to use Twitter effectively for business. I totally get it. Twitter is very fast moving and it can be hard to find your voice there.

At the same time, there are many business people who successfully use Twitter every day. They’re able to use it to boost their authority, make connections with potential JV partners, and connect with members of their audience.

It’s sort of mysterious how they do this. At least, it was mysterious to me until I really started to investigate what some of the most successful Twitter users were doing. By following the trail of what leads to success and traffic on Twitter, I realized that Twitter Chats, or Tweet Chats, are a very effective strategy.
