Using Facebook to Build Your List

There are so many great reasons to use Facebook as part of your business. You always hear that you should hang out online where the people of your niche hang out. That generally means Facebook these days. Facebook is a true juggernaut in the online world- it’s become an important part of people’s everyday lives, all around the world.

Unfortunately, businesses often use Facebook in the wrong way. Some people get on Facebook and just spam their links and expect to make a lot of money and grow their business that way. That doesn’t work at all.

Instead, what works is building real relationships on Facebook. What works is sharing things people really care about, showcasing your expertise as an authority in your niche, and having an overall social media marketing strategy to build your list.

That’s a game changer, when you really think about it. People aren’t typically on Facebook to learn about you or your business. People aren’t on Twitter for that reason either.

But, when someone logs into LinkedIn, they’re specifically looking for more information about someone they can hire for a job or for more information about a businessperson or business they’re interested in or want to buy from.

Building Relationships via Social Media

If you’re going to be successful with social marketing, it’s very important to pay attention to the relationships you build and tend to.

There’s nothing worse than the people who come onto Twitter or Facebook or any social site and then continuously plug whatever it is they’re selling. They don’t even bother to add value—it’s plug, after plug, after plug.

The above examples are what not to do. It might be really tempting to do that… but don’t.
